Welcome to the first edition of The Vault (or whatever we’ll end up calling it later if we can think of a better name).

This performance of “Can You Hear Me Now?” (off of Leave Your Light On) was recorded live at the Lions Television studio in Trenton, NJ, during the second leg of the Fan The Fury tour. It was an odd tour to be sure. We were still buzzing off the first leg of the tour that spring—our first substantial jaunt through the U.S., and wanted to keep pushing. Unfortunately, fate decreed we would be without a bassist just two weeks before the tour was set to start.

But the show must go on, so instead of outright canceling a bunch of dates, we stubbornly pressed on as a trio, armed with prerecorded bass tracks pumping through a bass rig and a click track running through Ross’ earbuds which sounded something like CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG in his right ear every night. Needless to say, we never experimented with live prerecorded tracks again.

Anyway, please enjoy this odd little artifact from an odd little time.
