It’s almost over. 2016 is nearly at a close. With my cursor hovering over the word processor, finding a tidy way to tie a bow on the year escapes me beyond a single, obvious thought:
You and I are still here.
We’re still here to change our fortunes. We’re still here to tempt the fates. We’re still here to love one another as much and as hard as possible; to continue the work left behind by the giants whose shoulders we stand upon.
You and I are still here. For a year which has left far too many of us feeling beat up—like celebrating and making art is a defiant act—that’s worth something.
And you still being here with us means the world to us. Because of you, we had our most creative year yet. We began work on a virtual reality music video for our song “Falling Out of Love”, released our first 360° music video for “The Wicked Kind”, completed two West Coast tours, signed a publishing deal with Defend Music, and spent a week at the Hamptons International Film Festival playing music for new fans.
This is to say nothing of the next Aloud album, the recording of which is already underway.
Anyway, please have a happy new year. Raise a glass to those we’ve lost, and hug everyone you can.
Before we sign off, we highly encourage you to donate to the Girls Rock Campaign Boston fundraiser, which ends on 12/31.
As always, thank you for listening.
Henry, Jen, Charles, and Chuck
