| 08.28.09: Teaparty Boston: The Search for White Jeans and Other Adventures with Aloud (Boston, MA)
Interview
Aloud played The Luxury’s CD release at the Paradise back in July, which continues to be one of the most talked about Boston events of 2009, and Jessie and I recently caught up with them after their sound check at TT the Bear’s Place before their high-impact show on August 6th with The Lights Out. Henry Beguiristain and Jen de la Osa, the pair behind all things Aloud, left Miami for Boston nearly ten years ago in order to capitalize on their artistic enthusiasm and mutual appreciation for meticulously crafted lyrics and songwriting. They haven’t looked back since.

Song Review
Aloud is one of those groups that has the luxury of having two exquisitely talented vocalists in Henry Beguiristain and Jen de la Osa. This embarrassment of vocal riches means Aloud has to choose who's going to sing lead, but the two work together so well in this particular track that you barely notice the differentiation.

08.03.09: Serve The Song: Center Stage with Aloud - Part 1
Interview
Jen de la Osa and Henry Beguiristain have been writing, singing, and playing guitar together since they were young. Today they are the core of Boston-based Aloud. The songs on their sophomore album Fan the Fury are an engaging collection of observations, each expressed with urgency and true emotion.

06.30.09: Boston Band Crush: C.D. on Songs, 6/30/09 (Boston, MA)
Song Review
If Neil Young had Mother Nature on the run in the 1970s, Jen de la Osa and Henry Beguiristain of Aloud provide an update of maybe not her status but their own in “Hard Up In The 2000s.” The drums and the chord progression plod ahead like a heart monitor as Doctor de la Osa gives her own prognosis on life in the current century. The once-per-measure piano chords sound out a dirge akin to John Lennon's “Mother,” minus Lennon's atonal primal screaming but plus singer de la Osa's powerful vocal delivery.
05.13.09: Boston Band Crush: Von Iva, Sick of Sarah, and Aloud ... (Cambridge, MA)
Live Review
Pound-your-foot pop rock Aloud kicked off the show with Jen de la Osa and Henry Beguiristain trading powerhouse vocals as the hometown heroes. ...They played together with obvious ease, with the understanding of two musicians who have known one another a very long time. Aloud's songs are sometimes rock and roll, sometimes bluesy and soulful, and other times very nearly new wave. The credit comes from the way in which they comfortably play each song.
04.01.09: Pilgrims of Sound: All Things Aloud
Article
Aloud is, through all the experiment, mood swings, and live shows, a rock band by the Webster’s definition. Their trick is that they’re aware of where and when they are and embrace the warts as well as the gold of the times. They are a statement that through all the bells and whistles at work on music, the heart of American youth remains in the 4 piece, verse-chorus-verse, kids in their mom’s basement and under furbished practice space, rock and roll ideology.
03.13.09: The Wire: Aloud at the Muddy River (Portsmouth, NH)
Live Review
The four band members demonstrate striking chemistry onstage. Beguiristain occasionally sidles up to Osa to sing into the same microphone, and the pair often meet center-stage to play guitar face to face.… The music is raw rock with a hard punk edge to certain tunes, all rooted around a classic Americana core.
02.12.09: The Post and Courier: Preview (Charleston, SC)
Show preview & interview
The brainchild of lead guitarist Henry Beguiristain and Jen de La
Osa, the band combines two voices for triumphant harmonies. Individually,
each singer brings something different to the table. De La Osa's deep,
almost Joplin-like voice adds thickness to the songs, while Beguiristain's
vocals steadies the John Lennon-inspired tracks.

If it was only Aloud onstage, I'd still recommend this show. I've seen
them twice, and they've delivered the goods. Their recordings have a big,

Beguiristain and de la Osa grew up together and have been writing
partners since their teens. Their high-energy female and male vocal leads
are ear-catching, and their melodies sink in. The title "Fan the
Fury," from the band's second release Fan the Fury (2008), has kick
and spirit.

Live review
At times, they (Jen and Henry) sing together in super-tight harmony
that leaves little to be desired. When Henry takes the keys midway through
the set, Aloud transitions from their regular indie/mod-rock sound to
a Jefferson Airplane feel, showcasing the vocals of Jen, whose voice is
comparable at times to Joan Jett and Ann Wilson... Overall, though, a
great performance.

Next up is Aloud. I’ve seen this band before and been very impressed.
Tonight is no exception with lots of catchy tunes, poppy hooks and songs
that kick ass. Overall, they’re a great band... Aloud is on fire
tonight. Swapping lead guitar licks and trading off vocals, Jen de la
Osa and Henry Beguiristain, prove that the only thing better than one
great frontman, is two great frontmen.
