The people of Flint, Michigan are still working their way through a manmade disaster. Aloud and Cold Blood Club want to make sure this crisis does not fade from the headlines.
“Agua Mala” — recorded in Boston at Mad Oak Studios with producer/engineer Benny Grotto — will be released as a joint single next month by the two groups.
There will also be a benefit show on February 9th at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. The benefit will feature Aloud and Cold Blood Club, with special guests Kris Gruen, Peppina, and Young Mister.
Proceeds from both the Knitting Factory show and sales from downloads of “Agua Mala” will go to the United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund.
Nearly three years on, the Flint Water Crisis continues. Over the course of a year and a half — while Governor Rick Snyder and his administration assured the people there was no “imminent threat to public health” — lead from aging pipes leached its way into the community’s drinking water. Thousands in Flint are affected, with lifelong health problems on the horizon for the children and citizens of Flint.
